Entomosan C for cats

Entomosan (Entomosanum) - a tool designed to kill all types of insect parasites (ticks, fleas, lice, lice beetles and other arthropods). For cats, Entomozan is used when there are symptoms of infection, and also as a means of prevention. It has a long-lasting effect, low toxicity, does not irritate cat skin. The drug is produced by the Russian research and production association FOX and Co.

Composition and principle of action

Entomosanum is packaged in 1 or 2 ml ampoules or 50 and 500 ml vials, and contains a 10 or 20% solution of insect-acaricidal substance and auxiliary components that prolong its action and increase effectiveness. Before using the product, it is brought to the desired concentration, mixing with water.

The drug is a liquid, which when mixed with water forms a dispersed system. The active substance is the organic compound pyrethroid permethrin, which has a contact knockdown effect. It has a detrimental effect on insects immediately after use: in contact with any part of the body of the insect, the connection of permethrin causes paralysis and rapid death in it.

Attention! Entomozan-C refers to drugs with a moderate degree of danger. It does not irritate intact skin, but can cause burns to the mucous membranes, and if it gets into the gastrointestinal tract, poisoning. Therefore, when working with this insecticide should use protective equipment (rubber gloves, mask). If Entomozan enters sensitive areas of the skin or mucous membranes, immediately wash it off with water.

Indications for use

Entomozan-S is prescribed to cats upon detection of skin parasites in them:

  • flea
  • beetle eaters
  • ticks, including parasitic in the auricle Otodectes cynotis,
  • as a means of preventing otodectosis, entomosis, demodecosis, notrosis and other skin diseases carried by blood-sucking arthropods.

Mode of application

The suspension is prepared before use. To do this, 1 ml of the drug is poured into 200 ml of warm water, then the mixture is thoroughly shaken to make it as homogeneous as possible. The resulting emulsion with a sponge or spray is carefully applied to the animal so that it moistens the skin.

The procedure for applying the insecticide is as follows: on the back - from head to tail, on the sides - from the spine to the stomach. At the end of the procedure, the neck and tail are processed. The drug should not get into the eyes or mouth of the animal. After the treatment is completed, the cat is allowed to dry, placing it in a warm place. So that your pet does not lick the applied preparation, you can put on a muzzle for 20-30 minutes.

The instructions indicate that Entomozan C has a protective effect of 2 to 3 weeks. With a large number of insects in the cat’s hair, it is recommended that the treatment with this insecto-acaricide be repeated every other day.

When using Entomozan for the treatment of otodectosis (acariasis), the cat's ears are thoroughly cleaned, removing crusts and scabs from them. Then the prepared emulsion is applied to the inner surface of the ears with a cotton or gauze swab, after which it is lightly massaged with the same swab. In cases of acariasis caused by ticks, the drug sometimes has to be used 4-5 times, and with complications in the form of infectious otitis media, it is combined with anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotic therapy.

As a prophylactic, Entomozan C can be used by mixing a ready-made emulsion of insecticide with cat shampoo, the dosage is about 1 ml per 1 kg of cat weight, for long-haired breeds this dose can be doubled.

Important! The prepared emulsion cannot be stored, the remaining solution should be destroyed. With the further use of the insecticidal effect, it will no longer have, but, being available, it can be dangerous to animals and humans as a toxic substance.

Restrictions on the use of a cat are hypersensitivity to its components: itching, inflammation of the skin, rashes and other manifestations of allergies. Entomosan C cannot be used for pregnant and lactating cats.

Owner reviews

Michael, the owner of the Maine Coon cat:

“We have a private house, so the cat spends a lot of time on the street. There were cases when our Red, walking in the yard, picked up fleas from relatives. He began to itch, and sometimes we found these insects in the cat's coat. An effective remedy was suggested by a veterinarian who observed our cat and labrador dog. We buy ampoules of Entomozan C in the pharmacy and periodically treat the cat, dog and bedding on which they sleep with this insecticide. Usually, a single treatment is enough to forget about fleas for a couple of weeks. Basically, we are satisfied with this product, however, it is somewhat hindered by a not strong, but rather unpleasant smell, which lasts for several hours. ”

Natalia, mistress of the lap-dog:

“With the help of Entomosan C, she very quickly cured her dog of ear scabies. This disease is caused by the microscopic size of the tick, and the animals are very suffering from itching, constantly combing the ears. I prepared the emulsion as described in the instructions, cleaned the dog’s ears and carefully wiped the auricles with a swab dipped in this emulsion. In order for the product to enter the ear canal, the veterinarian recommended a drop of the remaining solution to be instilled into the ears. The remedy worked perfectly, it was enough to process the ears only three times. ”

Veterinarian reviews

Sofia Romanovna Danik, certified felinologist:

“I have a small cattery where I breed cats of elite breeds. Of course, you have to use insect-acaricidal drugs. I consider Entomozan C an effective remedy against fleas, ticks and other parasites. The main advantage of this insecticide is its modest price and the ability to use it both for treating animals and for disinfection of the premises where they live. There have been no cases of unwanted side effects in my practice. ”

 Lidia Ivanovna Kucherenko, veterinarian:

“Everyone who used Entomosan C says this drug quickly solves insect problems in animals. But in order for the product to have the desired effect and not harm your pet, you should strictly adhere to the instructions for use: properly dilute the contents of the ampoule or vial, apply the emulsion correctly. For example, if a cat affects one ear with a tick of Otodectes cynotis, another healthy ear should be treated with an insecticide. It’s good if, after treating the animal with this insecticide, additional protective equipment, for example, an antiparasitic collar, will be used. ”
